The Long, Long Train Ride

Here is our first post from the road! We are sorry to say, we are having technical difficulties with getting the pictures posted. The good news is, I got this one to show up on the blog, and the bad news is, I don't know how I did it! Since I did it once, I should be able to do it again, so be patient the first little while. My picture link is not where it should be, so we have to find out how to do it!

We are now at the  home of Scout And Frodo's, where we have been taken care of like royalty. They and their neighbors get together and cook for us and let us stay overnight, just so we can get a good start on the beginning of the trail.

The train ride was long and became tedious over time, but it was a blast at first. We were on the train for about 32 hours and it became cramped in our sleeper berth. Fortunately we had a sleeper, or it would have felt longer. We had some great attendants to take care of us, Paula, who we had great conversations with as she served us our food (we promised we would post her picture, but we are still trying), and Patty, who made sure our beds were pulled down at night, and who put them up again in the day.

Then Scout came to pick us up at the train station at 1:00 in the morning. We were tired! We slept until about 10:am, then went back to bed for another hour.

We expect to have a great day tomorrow, it will be the first full day on the trail. We leave here at 6:00am.

I have changed the blog a little, the type should now be in white so people like my mom can read it better, and I have moved out of the third person narrative. We all know who writes the blog! I have also taken down the countdown timer, and now the countup timer should be starting at 8:00 am. I won't be able to see it on my IPad mini, so I just have to have faith it is there.
