Why Blog?

There have been some who have asked the question, "Why blog?" After all, there are so many journals and blogs out there, that the internet seems saturated with PCT blogs. Aren't they all pretty much the same? The PCT just follows one path, and everybody has basically the same experience.

Our reason is simple. This is our experience! We are mostly doing this blog for the benefit of our friends and family that are really interested in this journey we are about to embark on. Many of them have health problems, where this kind of experience can only be enjoyed through this medium. Plus, our parents want an easy way to keep track of us.

Another reason: We want a record of this epic adventure that we are expericencing for the 2nd time. We sadly did not have the skills to keep an online journal last time, though we do have a written form which is hard to drag out everytime we want to relive a moment in time. This way, our memories are only a mouse click away.

We also want to be informative to those who will follow in our footsteps in years to come. We learned a huge amount by reading other hikers journals that we use to this day, to make our journey easier. A good example of that would be, by reading the Walking Sisters blog in 2010, Pocahontas discovered the use of the pee rag, which has made her hiking much more enjoyable. (Just ask, if you don't know what that is or how to use it). We'll be happy to clue you in!

Of course, another benefit is getting to meet new friends through our blog. We will be meeting people before we hit the trail, all you have to do is comment. We would love to hear from everyone! We have already gotten to be good friends with another couple, Jeff and Sue, from their blog which is listed on our blog list. Do check out their Scene from the Trail if you have time. Plus, chatting with others who we will never meet in person on the trail is also cool. Finding out we are all one big happy family is fun.

Legasorus has been having fun in the last few years doing interviews of the PCT hikers as they come through our area. He loves to share these with anyone who is interested, and here is one interview he produced last summer. If you liked this one, more can be seen on YouTube, enter hikingfools. Or you can access our YouTube channel from Our Favorite Website list.
It is always a blast to hear other hikers stories.

Which leads me to my final thought.

Everyone's hike is unique! Even when two people hike the trail together, there are moments when your paths diverge, and you have two totally different experiences during that time. Some may not like our blog, and others will find it totally fascinating and fun. So, our blog is out there for whoever may find it. Sit down, grab a cup of coffee, and enjoy!
