Well, we have exactly one week before we are making tracks north!
So therefore, we have created a special post for all of our friends and relatives that have graciously offered to help us along the way. These are the special people who have made this trip possible. We salute you all and want to say a very public Thank You. (The size of the photo is not indicative of our feelings for you, the pictures just looked better in different sizes) We love you all!
Karen and Roger VanSanten - Resuppliers |
Tami and Zachery Rapozo - Lawn maintenance |
Tom and Cindy Williams - Puppy Sitters |
Delores and Louis Mahn - Pocahontas' Parents - Ride to Train Station |
Two of the most generous people who are already helping us is Scout and Frodo. Their ability to take hikers into their home and then out to the trail is remarkable, and it can't be easy, but we sure do appreciate their love for us hikers. They are willing to pick us up in San Diego at 1am. How cool is that? And we aren't the only people they are doing this for. It will go on and on throughout April and part of May, how do they survive this time of year?
We also want to thank the people we don't have pictures for yet: Chad Munn of MunnPhoto for our official hiking photos.
Britt Sexton, who bounced ideas around with Pocahontas all the while attempting to get work done at Imex. He turned us on to the Shot Bloks, which will power us up those hills. (Hint: great for care packages)
Sheri Bukovi, a FedEX customer of Legasorus, all around friend and enthusiastic supporter of all things trail related. Thank you for your kindness amid your heartache of losing your FedEx driver!
With all our love we want to include Legasorus' brother Vern Dietsche, who without UFO Bob, we would be hurting for entertainment on the trail. Vern also gave us great tips for video production.
Our Thank you's continue on for those who have gotten in touch with us through our blog and/or linked our site to theirs: Rockin', Glenn and Carol, Balls and Sunshine, Will and Annie (Tyler), Rika and Oli, Paul and Katherine from New York, and Luckyman, who also raises Guide Dogs. We are extremely grateful to you for answering our emails and leaving comments on our blog. All of their blog sites are listed on our Blog list to the right of this post.
Which brings us to our new friends,
Lyn and Steve Wilburn.
We met them through this blog, but have never met in person. We asked for permission to use their pictures, but not their story. That is theirs to tell, I just want to ask for those of you believe in prayer, to include these two this week, as they are going through some tough times. They just need some extra love!
And of course we can't leave this post without expressing our deep affection for our friends, Koko and The Bald Guy. Without their pre hike friendship, this waiting period wouldn't have been nearly as bearable or fun. Good luck as you hit the trail on Sunday, may you have sunny skies, cool breezes, and light packs. We'll see you up the trail soon!
We truly appreciate all those who asked questions, listened for years to our enthusiastic rambling, and just encouraged us to keep going when our preparations weren't going so well. We hope not to disappoint you by having to quit, and our hope is to daily (or near daily) have a new update for you for the next 5 months. We promise not to leave you dangling if we do have to get off the trail, we will let everyone know what is happening when it happens.
Our updates will now be updated using the ipad mini exclusively, so pardon any mistakes or weird looking blogs if there are any. We'll do our best!
WOW! Fantastic blog! There are sooooooo many people to thank and you did such a great job of it. We thank "our" people too, but not nearly as nicely as you. We have different names and faces, (and no puppy sitter but a cat sitter!)
ReplyDeleteWe thank YOU for your friendship and pre-trip friendship. It's nice to know you'll b out there with us!
See you on the trail Hiking Fools!!
Love KOKO & The Bald Guy
We know that by listing each individuals, we run the danger of leaving someone out. But it is so important that the people who have helped us with this trip be given special recognition.
DeleteAnd we all have our special ways of saying Thank you.
All right gang. The countdown is over. It is time to rock the PCT. Here's to a fantastic adventure.
ReplyDeleteHope it surpasses your wildest expectations. See you at kickoff
Will and Annie
We can't believe it either. We are now sitting at the home of Scout and Frodo's recouperating from our trip down. We are ready to rock and roll. (Hopefully not off a cliff)
