A Very Happy Retirement to Legasorus

 The end of an era has come, and what a great life we have had!

 

          Mark  just had his retirement party from FedEx yesterday.


The Writing on the Truck says "TDC Grand Champion"

 His boss, Rick Wolf, purchased this cake and the picture on it was outstanding. After a few pictures were taken, speeches given, and cake eaten, he is officially numbered among those old geezers who have nothing better to do than to go hike a long trail.



The road to Mark's success has been marked along the way with great accomplishments. As we look back, the one thing that stands out above all else, is the Truck Driving Championships, or the TDC.

 

After our first attempt at completing a thru hike on the PCT, Mark decided he needed some challenges in his professional life. Along came the TDC, which happens once every summer in all 50 states. The TDC inspires truck drivers who participate to remain safe on their jobs (no one can compete who has had an accident within the year), and lets the drivers hone their truck driving skills by practicing for the obstacle course portion of the championships.

 

Mark was a natural, and with a lot of practicing every Saturday morning with our good friends Dan and Cathy from March through June, in two years he held the honor of being FedEx's first ever National Grand Champion! He would go on to win other awards through the years, but that win in 2003 was his shining moment. He is proud of his wins, awards, and the travel he earned due to his hard work and perseverance.

Life is always a little scary when big

changes happen in our lives. This event is no exception. He has to take a few deep breaths every once in a while since our changes are happening at a very rapid rate. We know we are on the right track though and will continue to look to God as our inspiration and trust Him for our future plans.
 

May Mark's future remain bright as he goes on to accept other challenges throughout his retirement and may he find fulfillment as he follows in the footsteps of the hikers that went before him on the long trails of America.
