Signs, Signs, Everywhere are Signs

All along the whole road trip, we came across a wide variety of animal crossing signs. Each time we saw one, we kept our eyes peeled for the animal that was depicted. We either wanted to see one, or we wanted to avoid hitting one. Either way, these signs would keep us alert.

We were amazed at some of these animals like the burro. We saw this sign only once, and that was in Death Valley. No burros in sight. We also only saw one bighorn sheep sign which was in Nevada by a huge lake, and again, no sightings. The deer, elk, and horse signs were a dime a dozen of course, and the antelope signs were mainly in eastern Oregon and Western Nevada.

Which brings us to these two signs. The one on the left I call the Raging Bull sign. What is the difference between bovine temperaments out on the road? Are the cows in some areas feistier than others? Or are people in red cars supposed to be on special alert in some areas for those pesky bullfighting cows? I think I would rather meet up with the placid cud eating cows personally. We saw a ton of cows, but none on the road, and none that appeared as the Raging Bull. Ole'!

We drove down to Las Vegas after our National Park tour. If you have never been there, you have to go just to check out the lights at night. Talk about signs! The casinos stay lit up all night and it is a sight to behold. This is where we got married 25 years ago, so we thought we would swing by and revisit old memories.

As we were getting ready to leave Vegas, we were reading the blog of our good friends, KOKO and TBG. All the signs indicated that they sounded discouraged and it seemed like they needed some hugs, or a visit, or.... to be picked up in Lone Pine and driven back home. TBG was losing way to much weight, and it seemed like their minds weren't into the hike anymore. So we emailed them, asking if they would like to be picked up. As we were getting to Death Valley, they finally answered and said that they were feeling better, and that they were hiking on. But they also said that if we had emailed them a week earlier, they might have taken us up on our offer. So maybe it was a good thing we didn't email them sooner. They eventually were able to summit Mt. Whitney, and that is a major accomplishment, especially when your body is tired and not feeling well. Yeah for them!!

Not so happy KOKO and TBG

The Sign of the Times? Is this what Arches National Park would look like if California dropped into the ocean?
