The $64,000 Question Answered

Well, we now know the answer to our questions posed on a previous post. No, we don't have what it takes to complete the most awesome trail in the world, at least not right now. Some plans are just sitting over the horizon, not fully formulated, yet worming their way into our brains.

We are still in a fog, it was just beginning to lift as we left the trail, but it has now slammed back down onto our brains. We are hoping that the future plans may help alleviate this state of being.

All this being said, we have not lost our grip yet on realizing our dream, the hope of their being another shot in the future is what we are holding onto right now. Without that hope, our future would appear very bleak indeed, at this moment in time.

So for now, we are heading out for a road trip ( we LOVE road trips), heading into Utah, hike some among the arches, camp some in the desert, and we are hoping to hook up with some of our hiking buddies who are still on the trail on our return home. We are looking forward to providing a little trail magic if we can find them. We may spend some time in the redwoods, we need to feed our souls again. We will be posting about our road trip on this blog, so feel free to take a look ( we will be doing some hiking) if you don't mind that it won't be about the PCT.

In closing, we would like to mention again all of those trail Angels who helped us along the way, giving for the joy of giving, you won't be forgotten.

Here is the list in order of their appearance on our trip, we thank you all!

All of the pre trip angels who gave of their time and have already gotten their picture on the blog before our trip
Scout and Frodo who housed us before our trip and took us to the border
The lady who picked us up and brought us back to Campo on our second day to get cold medicine
Joe, a fellow hiker who saved us from being hassled by strangers by picking out a stealth campsite
The trail runners who kindly left us a starburst apiece on a rock to help boost our spirits
Magic Man who picked us up at Mt. Laguna and brought us to the motel when we were tired
Snap and his wife who picked us up at Pioneer Mail and brought us back to Mt Laguna to get long sleeved shirts.
Helicopter who gave us a ride from Julian to Kickoff
Dr. Sole who fixed up our blisters at Kickoff
Larry and Lucy Mann along with Team Tyler who brought us apple pie at Kickoff
Mark's brother Vern who picked us up at Kickoff and brought us back to Julian
Larry, the trail angel who supplies the water at Scissors Crossing
Heidi, the forest ranger who picked us up at Scissors Crossing and brought us back into Julian
Helen, the black lady who got us thinking about our duty to God
Ziggy and The Bear and Ron who let us stay at their house at Whitewater and made pizza and hamburger runs for us
The men who operate the Mesa Wind Farm who provides shade, water, food, and bathrooms to hikers
The couple who provided Legasorus a ride into Big Bear
Rika and Oli who treated Legasorus to a steak dinner and rides around town
The man who gave Legasorus a ride into Cajon Pass
The person who gave Legasorus a ride out to the trail from Wrightwood
The man who gave Legasorus a lift off the trail for the last time
Dona Saufly who we loved seeing again
For all of these people we say a heartfelt thank you and may God bless you for helping us.

  1. Sorry to hear that both of you are off the trail, but that doesn't mean you can't hike elsewhere. Carol & I will probably never hike the PCT or anything that involved, but day hikes still give us a great workout and time together in the outdoors. Make sure you two have fun together and enjoy life. If you two are ever headed down to the Southern part of the state, let us know. Be great to meet sometime and hike. We may be heading up to Fort Stevens State Park next year and if so, plan to hike around the area including the Fort to Sea trail. Keep posting your hikes on this website so we can follow along.

    1. We sure will keep updating for a while. We thank you for being one of our faithful followers, and we treasure your online friendship. Hopefully we will be able to meet, we travel quite a bit, and we'll let you know when we're in your area. We intend to keep hiking, there is nothing like being in the great outdoors. After all, we are the hiking fools!
