Cajon Pass

Here is the draw at Cajon Pass! McDonalds!? Seriously? Yeah!!! Priorities must be established, and this was the priority of the day for Legosaurus. Next on his agenda was to call me. A little sad and messed up those priorities were, but that's the way it is.
So now the phone call, "Dear, I want to come home!"
It seems that Lego was convinced that he wasn't going very fast, and that he was falling further and further behind. And since he had been traveling with other hikers that were quite a bit younger than himself, it took him longer during the day to hike as far as they did. He always managed to get to camp with the others, but by the time he got there, they were ready to go to bed, and he didn't get any down time chatting with people about his day or about their hike that day. So he was feeling a little lonely by this time, and feeling the added pressure of the rest of the herd coming up behind him.

And so being the always willing traveler that I am, I hopped in the SUV and headed down to Cajon Pass. I really enjoyed my trip down, and made it in a day and a half. We had a terrific reunion at the Best Western, and settled down to decide what to do next. Then Lego thought that maybe he could continue up the trail after finding out that he was still a couple weeks ahead of the herd. He opened his resupply box and filled his backpack for the hike to Agua Dulce. Then he went down to the railroad tracks to think about it a while.

When he returned, he had decided to come back home with me. His credit card had been compromised while at the motel, and he needed to come back to get a new card issued to him. We had a great time on the drive back, but we took I-5 all the way up from Los Angeles, when it would have been a better trip going up the 99. We were able to stop by Hiker Heaven and visit with Dona Saufly again. It was really fun to see her and Hiker Heaven again, and while we were there, we met up again with Lucy Mann, who we met at Kickoff. It was really fun to catch up on things with friendly faces, and every time we got in our vehicle to leave, we found hikers who were in need of a ride back up to Dona and Jeff's house. So it took us a little time to actually get back on the road again.
